Sulphur Football Preview – Presented By Carter County Dodge

SULPHUR BULLDOGS

Coach – JIM DIXON

OFFENSE

The Bulldogs will once again be a multiple-gun/spread offense or as head coach Jim Dixon calls it, “simple but creative and attack.” Eight players return to the starting lineup with experience from a year ago. Reese Ratchford (6-1, 190, Sr.) had 802 yards passing and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 358 yards and three scores, accomplishing solid numbers in only seven games. Mace Mobly (6-0, 165, Sr.) is back as one of the go-to receivers for the Bulldogs. Mobly accounted for 234 yards receiving and is expected to have a big season in his final year of high school football. Running back Daniel Amaya (5-10, 170, Jr.) is back after rushing for 490 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore. Amaya is a durable back who can pound the ball for tough yards. Brandon Lloyd (6-2, 210, Sr.) will start at tight end where he recorded 312 yards and five touchdowns last season. Lloyd can block and catch making him a valuable asset on offense.

DEFENSE

A swarming style of defense is what coach Dixon expects from his team this season. They will base in the 4-3 and pursue the football with an aggressive attitude. Braydon Standifer (5-10, 165, Sr.) notched 84 tackles last season and is expected to have similar numbers in 2021. Standifer is joined at linebacker by Daniel Amaya. Amaya grabbed 77 tackles of his own last year making this pair one of the top duos in the class. The defense returns eight total starters from last season so expectations are high for the defense. There are a couple of holes to fill, which means the Bulldogs are going to depend on a few underclassmen to step into starter roles this season.
