Do not let the size of the squad fool you. The Sasakwa High School varsity cheer squad may only be six members strong, but they are loud and proud to be representing their school. Head coach Angela Reich has this team working hard to not only be great cheerleaders, but leaders in the community. “We are a small squad of six, determined, confident females. We work hard daily on our cheers and routines as well as continuing to participate in other sports and maintain fantastic grades,” said coach Reich. “We are building relationships that will last a lifetime and have a blast all while supporting our Sasakwa Vikings! Go Big Red!”
This year’s captain is Alyssa Sneed, a senior with high expectations for herself and her teammates. “Alyssa has cheered for four-years and was chosen as an UCA All-American for 2021,” said coach Reich. “Co-Captain- Britain Reich, a junior, has cheered for three-years, and was also chosen as an UCA All-American for 2021.”
Britain Reich has come a long way in her three years as a cheerleader. Britain was sidelined last year due to a shoulder surgery but came back stronger than ever. Coach Reich said she was once timid, but now she helps lead the squad as a co-captain. “We are very proud of her,” said coach Reich.
Other members of the squad include Faith Davis who has cheered for one year, Jaislyn Gonzalez, a senior who has cheer all four-years of high school and was named UCA All-American in 2019 and 2021. Misty Gentry, another senior who has cheered all four-years of high school and Olivia Snodgrass, a junior who has cheered for two-years
