Antlers’ Lindie Williams – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Pine Cellular

Whether she’s on the sidelines every Friday night cheering for the Bearcats or walking the hallways at school, Lindie Williams is all about creating a spirit of success. A member of the Antlers cheer squad, Williams strives to make a positive difference every day. “I enjoy showing my enthusiasm from kickoff until the buzzer,” smiled the Antlers senior, who has been involved in cheer since the third grade. “To be successful, you have to be consistent and passionate all the time.”

It’s a way of life that Lindie credits to the example of her older sister, Harlie, who also was a cheerleader at Antlers and in college at East Central University. “I’ve always looked up to her in every way. She has been my number one icon and best friend my whole life.”

Talent plus compassion is what makes Lindie a valued member of the cheer team according to her coach. “Lindie has been in Bearcat cheer since she could walk. She followed her sister as she cheered for the Bearcats and when she was old enough to put a suit on, she did,” said coach Kathy Schier. “She is a gifted dancer and flyer and brings movement and grace to the sidelines.”

Being a cheerleader is more than just smiles and sideline routines for Williams. For her, it’s a way of life. “I hope that others know me as kind, loyal and caring,” she said in a sincere voice. “Caring is what’s most important to me. I have a big heart and I do my best to make everyone around me happy.”

Lindie is working toward a degree in cosmetology at Kiamichi Technology Center and plans to pursue a degree in business.

Meanwhile, Lindie Williams spreads happiness to everyone she meets as she continues to build her legacy of influence at Antlers High School. “I hope that I have represented my squad, my school, and my family to the best of my ability and I was able to help increase Bearcat spirit.”

Indeed she has and proves every day in every way that Character Counts.
