Buffalo Valley’s Cady Myers – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Pine Cellular

It was the fast pitch regionals last fall and the Lady Buffaloes of Buffalo Valley found themselves tied with Kiowa going into extra innings for the right to advance. Sophomore Cady Myers steps in for the Lady Buffs and socks a walk-off homer for the victory. One win later and Buffalo Valley punches its ticket to its first ever state fast pitch tournament.

“It was the first time I had been to state, and I was very nervous and even though we lost it was a great feeling and I’m hoping we can make it to state in slow pitch this spring,” said Myers who hit .452 with 34 RBI’s and 2 homeruns during fast pitch.

Cady says her dad was a baseball fan and got her involved in T-ball at a young age and she later picked up basketball which she played until seventh grade. She grew up in Antlers and moved to Buffalo Valley this year. As she grew up, she focused on former UCLA, two-time Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and Olympic softball player Rachel Garcia as a role model.

“She could pitch and hit kind of like I do and so I followed her,” said Myers.

Now the attention turns to the slow pitch season at Buffalo Valley and new head coach TJ Grey is looking forward to seeing a different side of Cady.

“She’s good enough defensively that she can play first or third base depending on who we’re playing, and she’s got a phenomenal bat that I don’t think the change away from composite bats this year will affect. Last fall we were in and out due to Covid so I’m anxious to see how the players all mesh this spring with hopefully a full schedule. We look forward to having Cady’s talent in the field and at the plate and to be a good leader for us. She’s a good teammate and the kind of person you need to have on your team.”

Myers has played travel ball since she was 10 and currently plays for the Oklahoma Fireballs out of the Valliant/Broken Bow area. In her spare time, she likes to read and play video games.
