When student-athletes put on their uniform with the school name across it, they are representing more than just their educational institution. They also become a representative of their community. Sarah Rasmusson attends Haworth High School and says she loves her school and community. 

“I am the Haworth High School’s student body president, Key club treasurer, class vice president, Fellowship of Christian Athletes co-president, and a member of Sun Rays, Quiz Bowl team, and National Honor Society. I am also actively involved in my community and truly love serving others. I am a proud member of the Haworth varsity cheer squad.”

Rasmusson just finished up her junior year at Haworth where she is the co-captain of the varsity cheer squad. She says that though it has taken a lot to be successful, she and her teammates have seen their work pay off. 

“It has taken a lot of time, practice, money, and commitment for me to be where I am today,” she said. “Working hard to be successful and getting a taste of success has kept me motivated. Our squad placed as first runner-up in the OSSAA Game Day and Competitive competitions. That is, by far, the highlight of my career.”

The team that she is surrounded by has played a big part in her growth as an athlete, but Sarah says that there is one other person that has had the biggest impact.
“My mom has the largest influence on my life,” she said. “She is always pushing me to be my best at everything I do and is always bettering me as a person. My teammates are also great. Each of us has a certain job and responsibility to take care of.”

When she is checking out her social media, Rasmusson has one account that she tries to go to first.

“My favorite person to follow on social media is Tyler Herro,” she said. “He is a great athlete and I admire his work ethic.”
