Davis’ Jaysen Welty – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Carter County Dodge

Athletes have to put in a lot of work in order to be successful. Whether it is the time put in at practice or the extra work that is done outside of practice, their dedication to getting better is a key component of their level of success. Jaysen Welty knows what it takes to be successful in golf and it is more than just the physical work.

“It takes a lot of year-round work to become successful,” he said. “I also study the sport. Golf is a difficult sport and I had to learn to adapt to the swing and learn what I can and cannot do to hit good shots. It’s a very mental sport so having an open mind on the course always helps in hitting good shots. I have always wanted to succeed in everything I do, so having a set of attainable goals that I can chase motivates me for success.”

As a senior at Davis High School, Welty, along with his teammates, has seen his share of success on the course.

“I was a part of the first men’s golf team from Davis to qualify for regionals last year,” he stated. “And we did it for a second time this past season. It was a great experience and feeling to see our work pay off.”

Though he has put in a good amount of work, Welty says that he would not be the person that he is today without some special people in his life.

“My parents are people I look up to the most in my life,” he said. “Without their guidance and wisdom, I wouldn’t be where I am today. They have taught me to always respect others and help people when needed.”

When he is checking out his social media, Jaysen has one golfer that he enjoys checking in on.
“My favorite person to follow on social media would definitely be Justin Thomas,” he said. “I have looked up to him from the time I started watching golf. He is a great golfer and a genuine person.”
