OFFENSE

A lot of the experience and offense graduated from Hartshorne this past spring, so the 2022 edition of the Miners will have a new look. “We’re a very young team with a lot of ability,” said veteran head coach Jeff Beare. “They’re a fun group to be around and they love to play football.” Beare is undecided about the placement of some of his offensive starters with just four returning from last year. Linemen Treyce Morgan (5-10, 220, Jr.) and Cody Sanders (5-10, 220, So.) are pretty well slotted for their spots along with Kelby Thomason (5-10, 210, Jr.) manning the fullback spot out of the speed shotgun offense. Jackson Moody (5-10, 180, Jr.) will probably be a key part of the offense. As a freshman last year, he rushed for 359 yards and averaged over five yards per carry. Given his athletic ability, Moody may be a candidate at quarterback this year if he doesn’t remain at running back. Gus Miller (5-10, 150, So.) is another name that will probably appear somewhere in the Miners offense.

DEFENSE

The Hartshorne defense returns just three starters. Moody, who had 56 tackles, eight sacks and two interceptions last year will be the main force at linebacker. Miller, who had 43 tackles in 2021 will be back at safety and Thomason will have a place in the defensive line. Kannon Osier (5-10, 150, So.) should also find a place on the defense, likely in the secondary. The Miners will move to Class A this season and will find a home in District A-6 with Stroud, Savanna, Liberty, Mounds, Konawa, Wewoka, and Allen.
