OFFENSE

The Bulldogs will be adjusting to their second new head coach in three years as Kim Nix takes the reins of the Valliant program. The new head man will have most of last year’s team returning with 10 starters back on offense. After taking their lumps last year, this crew has a lot to prove in 2022. Heading up the offensive unit will be quarterback Case Carlisle (6-0, 205, Sr.). After losing most of his sophomore season to injury, Carlisle came back last year to pilot the offense. Experience can also be seen at running back with the return of Dylan Connell, (5-8, 165, Jr.) and at wide receiver where Joseph Depriest (5-10, 195, Sr.) will be on the receiving end of Carlisle’s passes.  The line is probably the offensive strength of the Valliant offense with Jonavon Carterby (6-0, 225, Sr.), Miles Jordon (6-1, 265, Sr.), a VYPE Top 100 choice, and Hayzn Harmon (6-2, 250, Jr.) all back in the fold for 2022. The Bulldogs will run a broken wishbone power offense with a lot of misdirection according to Nix. “We were young last year so we’ve gained some experience and have a good group of freshmen coming in,” said the new head coach.

DEFENSE

The entire defensive unit is back for the Bulldogs in 2022 and there is enough depth that not many of the offensive players will have to see double duty at least initially with the exception of Jordon who will be in the defensive line along with Payton Robinson (6-2, 260, Jr.). At linebacker will be Landon Lowrance (6-1, 220, Sr.) and Garrett Cunningham (6-2, 205, So.). Lining up on the outside will be Darius Cherry (5-8, 185, Jr.) while Colton Matlock (5-8, 165, Jr.) will be in charge in the secondary for the Bulldogs. There are also a couple of underclassmen that Nix will be hoping to get some contributions from in Daykota McDonald and Brody Dorries. Valliant will run a 5-2-4 defense with an emphasis on stopping the run first.
