Broken Bow Softball Spotlight – Caitlynn Hammer – Presented by Evan Smalling State Farm

Softball has been a part of Caitlynn Hammer’s life for a few years. She is a utility player for the Broken Bow varsity team and she says that it takes a lot in order to be at her best when she steps on the field.

“It takes a lot of grit to be successful,” she said. “The willingness to put in countless hours outside of regular practice. Having a positive attitude especially when times get tough. I really love the game of softball and that is what keeps me motivated to work hard. Also, I plays along side a great group of teammates that help me focus as well.”

A junior, Hammer is proud to represent the school and community whose name she wears on her uniform.

“It gives me a certain sense of pride knowing I’m playing for Broken Bow,” she stated. “We have a tradition of winning and it means something to put on the black and gold.”

Throughout her life, Caitlynn has had a few people that have had a big influence on her life and helped shape her into the person that she is today.

“My Nonna is my biggest role model because she shows me what being a women in Christ is supposed to look like,” Hammer said. “I have also always looked up to my mom because she always gives her all to everyone and everything around her and she shows me I can do anything I want in life. Mrs Brown, who was my seventh and eighth grade math teacher has had the biggest impact on me in the classroom. She has taught me the importance of good work ethic and that I can do anything I set my mind to. As an athlete, I look up to Sydney Romero. I have grown up watching her play on tv and a few times in person. She is someone I truly look up to both on and off the field. Her dedication, self motivation, and love for the game help drive me to be the player I am today.”

Whenever Hammer and her teammates step on the field, they are ready to play whoever is in the opposing dugout. But she says that there is one team that she enjoys beating the most.

“Anytime we can beat Idabel it is always great,” she said. “They are our rivals.”
