Hartshorne Miners Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by Ira Brinlee Shelter Insurance

GIRLS
Coach: Shane Hackler
21-22 Record: 15-10

With three returning starters and a key move-in, Hartshorne Lady Miners head coach Shane Hackler is over the top with enthusiasm about the upcoming season. “The girls had a spectacular summer camp and are raring to go. The Lady Miners are ready to make a state tourney run!!” At the front and center for Hartshorne is Alanna Williams (5-7, Jr.). “Alanna leads the charge for the us,” said Hackler. “She’s explosive and aggressive and can connect from the three-point line on in. She finds ways to create space to launch a 3 or can beat you off the dribble to score with either hand. She’s got great vision and is truly a floor general for us.” Another of the returning starters for the Lady Miners is Lexis Vicars (5-10, So.). “Over the summer she has grown and gotten a lot stronger. She’s a threat from mid-range on in and has worked on finishing in tight quarters,” said Hackler.

The third member of the returning trio is Jayda Moore (5-5, So.). “Jayda is our point guard that can shoot from anywhere on the floor and has the endurance to run defenders into the ground. She is always on the move and don’t let her size fool you because she is sneaky in finding ways to get rebounds and steals,” stated Hackler. Every team needs a player like Addie Budzinsky (5-6, Sr.). “Addie is the ’mom’ of the group and one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever had. She works multiple jobs, is great in the classroom and never complains while working her tail off in practice,” said Hackler.

The move-in that has the coach excited is Brooklyn Surginer (5-10, So.) “She’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. She’s tall and strong but moves like a guard. She handles the ball well, can hit the mid-range or the three and will beat opponents to death on the inside with her physicality,” said Hackler. Other players that will look to make an impact include Alisa Baker (5-7, Sr.), Sofia Camp (5-7, Jr.) who is a defensive specialist according to Hackler, Alexis Hoover (5-3, Jr.), Olivia Jones (5-8, Jr.) and Ryleigh Powers (5-11, Jr.). Sophomores looking for playing time are Gracie Wilson and Stella Red-hot while freshmen Paisley Winslow, Cadence King and Mila Zephier round out the roster.
