Role models play a big role in the lives of everyone. They can influence decisions and choices that are made. High school student-athletes are not exempt from this. The people that they look up to can make a big impact on their lives. Browning Snider says that there are a few people that have helped shape him into the person he is today.
“The biggest role model in my life is my dad,” Snider said. “He is a great example of what a man should be like and how he should behave. He has shown me what following Jesus every day looks like. Also, coach Wyrick has taught me many life lessons that I can use for the rest of my life.”
Snider is a senior at Idabel High School, where he is first bag on the golf team and also serves as team captain. Over the years, he has seen his golf game grow and he attributes that growth and progress to the work that he has put in.
“It has taken a lot of hours of practice,” he said. “I am at the golf course every chance that I get. I also have to give a lot of credit to my golf coach, Greg Maye. He is one of the best golf coaches in the state without a doubt. I owe him a lot because he has helped me become the golfer that I am today.”
Throughout his career, Browning has enjoyed many great memories on the golf course. He says that there is one moment so far that stands out as his favorite, but he is hoping that there will be a moment this season that will supersede even that.
“So far, the highlight of my high school golfing career is an easy choice,” he said. “It was when I had the opportunity to play in the state tournament at the Tulsa Country Club. The course was amazing and it was an honor to get to play there.”
Snider is also involved with a variety of groups around school besides golf. He is a member of the Key Club, Junior Chamber, Future Farmers of America, National Honor Society, student council, and Poptime Show Choir.
