The Broken Bow Lady Savages are returning eight starters this fall but will only have two seniors filling those spots. In 2021 the Lady Savages finished with a final record of 20-18 and head coach Jimmie Wyrick is excited to see how his young team responds this fall with a season of experience under their belts. “We have big expectations for this fall,” Wyrick said. “We’re a young and talented team with lots of heart.” The Lady Savages will face an early season test the second week of August with an appearance in the Tuttle Tournament. Although the Lady Savages have a young roster, they are not lacking in experience.
Two pitchers that made impressions in their freshman year were Maliyah Carney (P, 3B, SS, So.) and Emery Noah (P, 1B, So.). Both can play multiple roles on defense but really control the circle when handling pitching duties. Jaxie Glasson (C, OF, So.) is a steady presence behind the dish and has a great glove and vision. Haylie Brantley (SS, P, So.) is another young contributor that coaches were impressed with as a freshman and excels at key positions. Bri Mills (OF, Sr.) is one of only two returning seniors for the Lady Savages and will be relied upon to bring veteran leadership to the dugout. Mills can cover lots of ground with her speed in the outfield and brings a strong and reliable presence at the plate. Caitlynn Hammer (1B, 3B, Jr.) is a key defensive contributor and excels in the infield. Hammer is also a reliable hitting threat and brings veteran experience to a young Broken Bow squad with lots of talent.
