Idabel Warriors Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Pine Cellular

Coach: Burtchal Griffin

21-22 Record: 4-18

After struggling with seven of the top nine players as freshmen last year, things look to be on the upswing for the Idabel Warriors this coming season. Obviously with so many of those players returning, Idabel will have better experienced players this season including four of the top scorers from last year.

There are also some new faces on the court for the Warriors as well as some talented freshmen that will add depth to the mix. One of those pups back from last season is guard Shane Threadgill (6-1, So.) who led the way in scoring with 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists. Also in double figures last season was Cordavious Hankin (5-11, So.) who put in 10.0 points a game in 2021. Leadership on the team will fall to a trio of seniors in Cole Grant (5-11), Christian Moore (6-3) and Jalen Wright (5-11) all of whom gained valuable playing time last season.

Other Warriors who return with some time under their belt include Matrail Lopez (6-0, So.), Dylan Parker (6-1, Jr.), Rasee Raney (6-1, So.), Quincy Johnson (6-2, Jr.) and Jabori Threadgill (5-11, Jr.). Look for contributions as well from sophomores Elijah Henderson and Markee Townsend as well as freshmen Chris Bloodso, Baker Hoskin, and Ivan Colbert.

“With our returning players and some new folks, the present and future look bright for the Idabel Warriors,” said veteran coach Burtchal Griffin.
