GIRLS
Coach: Jennie Ann Skimbo
21-22 Record: 3-19
The Clayton Lady Bulldogs are coming into this new season looking to build off of a tough season a year ago that saw them only register three wins. Jennie Ann Skimbo is in her first season leading the Lady Bulldogs basketball team and she says that she is looking forward to a good season. “This team has a lot of potential,” Skimbo said. “They all work very hard and know what needs to be done in order to be successful. We expect good things out of the girls this season.” Two girls the team will look to for leadership will be Jamie Oldham (5-10, Sr.) and Emily Oldham (5-8, So.). Both are team players and will do whatever it takes to help their team. Last season, Emily was the teams leading scorer. And after an offseason of hard work and practice, Jamie has shown a lot of improvement.
Playing the forward and center positions, Jenna Whitehead (5-7, Sr.) will work to be a force down low for Clayton. Taking care of things at the guard position will be Abbie Robbins (5-4, Sr.), Chastity McDaniel (5-4, Jr.), and Avery Ben (5-3, Jr.). These three are outstanding athletes and enjoy representing their school and community on the court. Look for them to make bigger impacts this season. Underclassmen on the team that are looking to make contributions on the season are Jessea Stowell (5-3, So.), Amberlyn Cranford (5-2, So.), and Kaygen Davidson (5-0, Fr.). Other players to keep an eye out for this season are Samantha Butler (5-4, Fr.), Averi Rodriguez (5-7, Fr.), and Rebel Murray (5-0, Fr.). Team managers for the team are Nate Hairrell, William Harris, and Faith Long.
