The Bronx Bombers…the Big Red Machine…the dominance of the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds are recorded as two of major league baseball’s best teams and both have Oklahoma heroes including Mickey Mantle and Johnny Bench as part of the Hall of Fame.
The same can be said for this year’s dominance of the Roff Tigers and Silo Rebels and their path to glory as state champions. The Tigers made a sweep of their opponents in 2020-2021 including an undefeated 33-0 record to win the Class B spring state championship. Coupled with a 30-2 fall title, this year’s seniors have produced five championship crowns with a combined 204 wins over the past four seasons with the 2020 halted by the pandemic with the Tigers off to a 3-0 start. Historically Roff now owns 12 state baseball championship trophies.
Silo seniors wrapped up a stellar career with a four championship rings including the last three spring baseball tournament titles (2018-19-21) played with 2020 halted by Covid-19 when the Rebels opened the year 3-1. Combining the fall and spring schedules Silo has recorded 220 wins with only 22 losses. Silo’s trophy case now includes a total of 16 baseball championship awards.
And while there are heroes in both lineups paced by the 2021 seniors, both schools will confirm it’s the combined team approach that keeps Roff and Silo adding championships to the school’s tradition of winning baseball.
