Within the busy hallways of Ada High School, a group of hardworking female athletes augment the athletics scene with their extraordinary skill and steadfast commitment. Under the guidance of the girls’ track coach, Leslie Landrum, these athletes represent an ideal example of adaptability and dedication in a variety of sports.
Coach Landrum proudly introduces her athletes, all of whom excel not only in track but also in cheerleading, softball and tennis. “Lilli Keefer, Paige Maloy, Alyssa Delgado, Bella Holcomb, Jayden Gray, Bentli Taylor, Rylynn Truett and Jazmyne Gray,” she said, highlighting their remarkable ability to balance their commitments in other sports and track.
“I admire them and their work ethic; they are not only dedicated to me as their track coach, but other people as well,” Landrum noted, acknowledging their outstanding contributions to Ada High’s athletic programs. Throughout the fall and winter seasons, these athletes stand as pillars of support, cheering Ada’s football, basketball and wrestling teams with unwavering enthusiasm.
Transitioning seamlessly from other disciplines to track, these multi-talented athletes also shine in slow-pitch softball during the spring. Alongside their track endeavors, they demonstrate remarkable prowess on the softball field. “My softball girls play almost every day of the week after Spring Break,” Landrum remarked, underscoring their relentless commitment to their respective sports.
Among these standout athletes is Bentli Taylor, who distinguishes herself not only in track but also in tennis. “She is competing in tennis and track this spring,” Landrum mentioned, emphasizing Bentli’s versatility and dedication to multiple sports.
Coach Landrum’s admiration extends to the coaches of other sports. “If it weren’t for great coaches like Karry Griese, Jeremy Strong and Terry Swopes, it would be extremely tough for me to have a successful track season,” she acknowledged graciously. The collaborative spirit among coaches fosters an environment where these talented young women can thrive in their athletic pursuits.
As the spring season unfolds, Landrum’s track stars continue to shine, navigating early morning practices and meets with unwavering determination. Their commitment to excellence not only on the track but also in other sports reflects their dedication to Ada High School’s athletic legacy.
These female athletes will be ones to watch this spring sports season!
