VYPE: What has it taken to be successful in your sports?
Ronaldo Martinez: Pure hard work and dedication; without the failures throughout my career as a soccer player, I would never be the best I could be.
VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent your school and community when you play?
RM: It means a lot to me when I play for McAlester High School because you only go to high school once in your life. For me, it shows who you are as a person and what you can leave behind as a Buffalo.
VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?
RM: A highlight moment in my career was when I received an award for most goals and assists in one season.
VYPE: What clubs and campus activities are you involved with?
RM: I am not really involved in any groups or clubs, but my team and I usually do all sorts of good things for our community and school. I would consider us a type of group that is seen as a family.
VYPE: Which teammate do you enjoy working against the most with in practice? Why?
RM: I would have to say William Alejandro because he and I have grown up playing soccer. He plays center back and I play attacker, so when I go up against him, he challenges me to get better and try my best.
VYPE: What motivates you?
RM: What motivates me every day is my passion for soccer and my family that supports me.
VYPE: Who are some of your biggest influences or role models? Why?
RM: One of my biggest role models in my life would have to be my dad because he’s always been there since day one. He pushes me to be the best every single day and has taught me to be a better person.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
RM: My plan after high school is to attend college, play soccer and start my own business.
