Eden Stringer, a sophomore at McAlester High School, recently made the 2024-2025 cheer squad and is excited to contribute to the team’s success.
Speaking about her biggest role model, Eden mentioned her aunt who has made quite an impact on her life. “My biggest role model has always been my aunt Haven Peace. She’s always set an amazing example for me and been there to guide me through challenging parts of life. She is everything I aspire to be, and I admire her more than anyone.”
Acknowledging the impact of her cheer coach, Eden noted her support from coach Williams. “My cheer coach, Brooklyn Williams, has impacted my life in so many ways. She cares about the whole team, and she never fails to show us by her actions. She pushes us all to be the best we can be and sees all the potential in everyone.”
Describing what it takes to succeed in cheerleading, Eden emphasizes teamwork, dedication and unity within the team. “It takes teamwork. We practice for hours every day together, we all put 110% into cheer, and we build each other up during the times when we need it.”
One of the highlights for Eden in cheerleading has been learning dances and bonding with her teammates. “My biggest highlight from cheer has been learning all of the dances and getting to see everyone learn so quickly. I remember Kaylee Lance trying to teach a couple of the girls and I the motions and us all laughing when we’d mess up and celebrating when we got it down.”
When it comes to working with teammates, Eden appreciates Kamille Rose. “I love working with Kamille because she takes time to help you understand everything, and she’s so patient.”
In terms of extracurricular activities, Eden is also involved in drama club, showcasing her passion for performing arts. “I’m currently playing ‘A La Fillie’ in Beauty and the Beast! Acting has always been a passion of mine, and I love performing so much.” Looking ahead, Eden plans to pursue theater in college while continuing to participate in cheerleading. Representing her school and community through cheerleading holds great significance for Eden Stringer. “It’s a privilege for me to be able to be a part of such a great community, and I’m glad I am able to do this.”
