VYPE: What sports do you play?
Emily Shelton: Golf.
VYPE: What positions do you play?
ES: First bag.
VYPE: What motivates you?
Emily Shelton: The want to get better.
VYPE: Who are some of your biggest influences or role models? Why?
ES: My dad, because he always shows me a good work ethic and always pushes me to get better.
VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life? How?
ES: Coach Justin Bond, because he has always been there for me when I need it and he can calm me down when I’m struggling.
VYPE: What has it taken to be successful in your sport?
ES: Lots of time and effort
VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?
ES: Going to state every year, and hopefully for a third time.
VYPE: Is there an opponent that you enjoy beating the most? Why?
ES: Josilyn Harbin from Durant. We play together all the time in school tournaments and Thunderbird tournaments. With playing all of those tournaments together, we have become good friends and love to compete with each other.
VYPE: Which teammate do you enjoy working against the most with in practice? Why?
ES: I enjoy competing with my teammate Audrey Rampey because she always makes it fun even if we’re playing bad.
VYPE: What clubs and campus activities are you involved with?
ES: I’m involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
ES: My plan is to go to college to become a labor and delivery nurse, and I hope to take my golfing skills to the next level.
VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent your school and community when you play?
ES: It makes me feel confident when people at church come up to me and congratulate me and tell me they were following me along the way.
