Stratford’s Launa Raymo – Softball Spotlight – Presented by RibCrib

A leader at her school and on the softball diamond, Launa Raymo, a senior athlete at Stratford High School, is leading by example. Throughout her time playing basketball and fast and slow pitch softball, Launa has demonstrated a strong sense of duty to her team and community.

“My parents, God and underclassmen” inspire Launa to be the best leader she can be, highlighting the values that drive her to excel in sports and in life. Her parents have been her pillars of support, always pushing her to strive for greatness and providing unwavering support.

Among her mentors, Launa acknowledges Shotona Gallup, a teacher whose impact extends beyond academics. “She’s always there to listen and has given me many life lessons. While not only being a great teacher, she is an amazing person and has the best personality. She has always put a smile on my face, even when it was hard.”

Achieving success in sports requires dedication and hard work, and Launa is no stranger to putting in the hours. “Long hours on the field, in the cage and in the gym” have been key to her development, attributing her growth to the relentless efforts of her coaches, teammates and family.

Launa’s athletic ability is evident in her accolades, including multiple all-conference awards and being a two-time all-district first baseman in fast-pitch softball.

When it comes to competition, Launa thrives on challenges. “Asher is one of our biggest opponents, but honestly, I just really like to win.”

Off the field, Launa values her friendships. She cites Kennedy Layton and Haylee Dickerson as opponents who push her to improve while maintaining a positive outlook. Launa also recognizes the efforts of teammates like Lexi Thomas, whose hard work and positive attitude contribute to the team’s success.

Beyond sports, Launa is involved in various clubs and organizations like NHS, NTHS and FFA, showcasing her dedication to both academics and extracurricular activities.

Looking ahead, Launa plans to attend Murray State College for a PTA degree.

Representing Stratford High School has been a privilege for Launa, who values the support and recognition from her community. “Having people come and watch you play and then complimenting how you played after the game has made me feel so honored. Not only that, the support system we also have in our community is outstanding and I am so honored to be able to represent them, along with Stratford High School and their athletic program.”
