Ada Football Spotlight – Cord Coffee – Presented by First United Bank

Cord Coffee is a junior at Ada and plays tight end and defensive end for the Cougar football team. Coffee and the Cougars have been having a successful season through October and currently hold a 3-1 record in district play and are looking to keep up their momentum as the season winds down. Coffee appreciates the effort that his coaches and teammates have put in this season.

“I love how hardworking and disciplined everyone is,” Coffee said. “This team supports and encourages each other and you can really depend on your teammates to have your back.”

As a junior Coffee’s favorite thing about playing for the Cougars is getting to put on a show in front of the loyal Ada supporters. Coffee and his teammates feed off of the home crowd energy and use that support for momentum.

“The best thing about Friday night is the school spirit and how alive the crowd is supporting us,” Coffee said. “We can really feel the excitement and it hypes us up to play even harder.”

While Coffee works hard in games and practices he also puts full effort into the classroom.

“My favorite subject is math and my favorite teacher is Coach McCurley who is not only my math teacher but one of my coaches as well,” Coffee said. “He makes it fun and easy to understand.”

Outside of school Coffee spends his free time hanging out with friends and family and often helps his dad on his ranch working with cattle. Coffee finds that he can apply a lot of the experience on the ranch to his hard working mentality translates to the gridiron as well.

After high school Coffee plans on furthering his education in college, but is still undecided on what he wants to do and is taking time now to consider his options.

“I am interested in several fields so I plan on spending time in those areas to decide what is best for my future,” Coffee said. “I think it’s important not to close doors when there are several paths to explore.”
