Ada golfer Carter Kenley – Character Counts – Presented by Union Home Mortgage

Ada High School student Carter Kenley has been a dedicated golfer since the young age of seven.

“I got into golf when I was around seven because of my Dad and grandpa,” said Carter.

Now a junior in high school, Carter, not only plays for the golf team, but is also a member of the basketball and football teams as well.

Golf is a game of concentration and composure and has made a lasting impression on Carter on and off the course.

“Golf has taught me to stay level headed in stressful situations,” Carter said.

Some may consider golf a more independent sport, but anyone who plays for Ada High School knows how important your teammates are. Carter loves being on the golf team because for him it means he is always able to rely on his teammates when he needs them. Whether that is for help with his long shot or just help with his mental game.

A typical day of golf for Carter means getting to the course around 2:30, hitting the range for a bit, and then going to play the course until it gets dark and they are forced to halt their practice until the next day.

Carter’s hard work and dedication to the sport does not go unnoticed.

“Carter has worked hard over the last few years on his golf game. He always tries to make the smart play on the course. He has improved every year he has played for me,” said Coach Robbie Powell.

Inspiration for his golf game comes from Jordan Spieth, a golfer that has held the number one spot in the Official World Golf Ranking and of course played in the PGA Tour.

When times get tough or life gets complicated like it does for anyone, Carter knows that he can always count on his friends and family for their support and encouragement.

When Carter is not on the golf course, in school, or participating in his other sports you can find him like most teenagers his age, just hanging out with his friends.
