Ada Softball Spotlight – Rylynn Truett – Presented by First United Bank

Ada junior Rylynn Truett plays catcher for the Lady Cougar softball team and coaches speak highly of her softball IQ. Crouching behind the dish Truett is the defensive leader for the Lady Cougars, brings an intensity to the field, and is always ready to compete. Truett truly loves softball and began playing when she was four years old. Over the years Truett has come to appreciate the moments she gets to share with teammates and the way everyone comes together to work toward a common goal.

“Being on a team has taught me how to have someone’s back and how to be more mentally strong,” Truett said.

This year Truett is proud of the way she and the team have worked together and grown closer over the season.

“This season I’ve had a lot of personal growth,” Truett said. “I think we grew as a team, too.”

Through her first three seasons playing for Ada Truett has had many memorable moments, but one stands out in particular.

“My favorite memory was last year in bi-districts,” Truett said. “We were losing and the East Central softball girl’s cheered for us and we came back and won.”

Truett is appreciative for the support and lessons she has received from friends, family, and coaches in her young career.

“I’ve had a lot of people inspire me throughout my life and a lot of coaches help me with different things,” Truett said. “Coach Strong has helped me with my game all together and holds me accountable. Coach Coker puts me in a better mood and coach Jennings taught me how to be more of a competitor. Dan Cody has pushed me in my mental and physical game.”

However, Truett said her mom is her main role model in life and knows how to be supportive and encouraging.

“She pushes me the most and isn’t scared to hurt my feelings,” Truett said. “She is always there for me and she always knows how to make me feel better.”

After high school Truett hopes to continue her softball career at the next level and study physical therapy.
