Ada’s Elvis Edwards – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by McCortney’s Family Pharmacy & Compounding Center

A strong shortstop and second baseman, Elvis Edwards is a sophomore at Ada High School who is causing ripples on the baseball diamond. Elvis exhibits the attitude of tenacity and persistence, as he has his sights fixed on the future and a persistent desire to grow.

“For me, the motivation comes from knowing that there’s always someone who’s better than me, and I can’t afford to stop working.”

Family plays a significant role in Elvis’s journey, with his dad and brother serving as his greatest sources of inspiration. “They always encourage me to work harder every day,” Elvis acknowledged, grateful for their unwavering support.

Success in baseball, according to Elvis, hinges on continuous improvement. “To always work on my craft; there’s always something I can fix,” he said, highlighting the importance of dedication and self-improvement.

A standout moment in Elvis’s young career came during his very first high school game against McLoud when he hit two doubles. “It was a thrilling start to my high school journey,” Elvis reminisced.

When it comes to rivals, McLoud holds a special place for Elvis, who relishes the challenge of facing them on the field. “They always talk a bunch of noise,” Elvis laughed, recalling the intensity of their matchups.

In practice, Elvis enjoys the healthy competition with his teammate Kyler, who pushes him to strive for excellence. “Knowing that he’s knocking on my door at shortstop makes me want to work harder,” Elvis admitted, appreciating the friendly rivalry.

Acknowledging the underappreciated players on his team, Elvis highlights Braxton Holloway, who sometimes gets overlooked. Elvis recognizes Braxton’s resilience and dedication to the team.

While Elvis isn’t currently involved in clubs, he plans to explore more opportunities next year as he continues to balance his academic and athletic commitments.

Looking ahead, Elvis aspires to play baseball at the next level, fueled by his passion for the game and the unwavering support of his community. “It feels awesome knowing I have the whole town of Ada behind my back,” Elvis Edwards expressed, grateful for the opportunity to represent his hometown on the baseball field.
