Ada’s Josie Morgan – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by First United Bank

by Trina Walker
Josie Morgan is a senior at Ada High School
In addition to being an active member on the AHS softball team and pom squad,
Josie is also a competitive dancer at Central Oklahoma Dance Center.
Whether she is on the softball field, cheering on the sidelines with her pom squad
or in the dance studio, Josie values her friendships made through athletics.
Josie started dancing with CODC when she was only 6-years-old. Dancing
naturally led to her being drawn to pom where she joined her high school squad as a
freshman.
Her other love is softball which she has also played since she was 6-years-old.
Josie says athletics has taught her that, “encouragement makes a big impact on
how you want the process to go.”

Josie looks up to Olympic gymnast, Simone Biles.
“She (Simone) took time off her sport when she wasn’t in the right mindset,” says
Josie.
Athletes are competitive by nature but loving ones sport can also relieve stress
from day-to-day pressure.
“Dancing has always helped me relax,”says Josie.
Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Weems from 8th grade who was always supportive
and helpful.
Josie is inspired by her parents.
“My dad always lends a hand when someone is struggling and my mom works
hard to achieve a goal,” she says.
Pom squad teammate, Preslee Young, has left the biggest impression on her.
“Preslee is outgoing and made everyone laugh throughout the season,”says
Josie.
When not hard at work with athletic activities Josie wants to visit Hawaii.
“The landscape is pretty. I would take my mom with me because trips are fun with
her,” she says.
Josie’s all time favorite memories have been made cheering on the sidelines
during football games and just being part of the Ada community.
