Ada’s Lilly Cadenhead – Tennis Spotlight – Presented by McCortney’s Pharmacy

On and off the tennis court, Ada High School junior Lilly Cadenhead embodies the qualities of commitment and sportsmanship. Lilly looks back on her path and the people who have influenced her sports career with a heart full of appreciation and a passion for tennis.

Motivated by her team, Lilly finds inspiration in the camaraderie and support of her fellow players. “They truly keep me loving the sport,” she acknowledged, highlighting the importance of teamwork and friendship in her tennis endeavors.

Guided by the wisdom and example of her parents, Lilly considers them her greatest role models. “They give me the advice that I sometimes don’t want, but it keeps me humble and playing smart,” she reflected.

Among her teachers, Mrs. Megan Hawley, her biology teacher, stands out as a source of inspiration and positivity. “She’s always smiling and always makes my day,” Lilly expressed, appreciating the encouragement and warmth Mrs. Hawley brings to her classroom.

For Lilly, the highlight of her tennis career lies in the exhilarating moments of competition, particularly during regionals. “It’s just extra special with a good arrowhead in your hand,” she shared, cherishing the memories and achievements garnered on the court.

In the spirit of sportsmanship, Lilly finds joy in both victory and defeat, recognizing the lessons and growth opportunities each match brings. “I enjoy beating and losing to better players than me,” she reflected, embracing the challenges that fuel her improvement.

In the practice arena, Lilly treasures the opportunity to compete and learn alongside her teammates. “They all make me better in every way, and I’m grateful for them all,” she acknowledged, highlighting the supportive environment fostered by coach Terry Swopes.

Beyond tennis, Lilly actively participates in campus activities such as the World Travels Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, embodying a well-rounded and engaged student-athlete.

Looking ahead, Lilly aspires to continue her tennis journey, aiming for a college scholarship while pursuing her passion for veterinary science. With determination, Lilly embraces the honor of representing her school and community, embodying the values of sportsmanship, dedication, and excellence both on and off the tennis court. “To represent my school and community is one of the biggest honors I’ve ever received. I love being involved in everything I attend or put my mind to!”
