OFFENSE
The Wolves are looking for their first playoff win since 2017 bolstered by an insurgency of young talent. Five starters are back on the offensive side of the football. Quarterback Jake Parker (5-11, 190, Sr.) directs the Davis’ flexbone attack. Parker also has some experience at running back. He’s a strong runner who is not afraid of initiating contact. Parker’s father, head coach Greg Parker, says the Wolves will look to dominate the line of scrimmage. Tackle Kobi England (6-3, 275, Sr.) and guard Mason Tomlinson (6-0, 210, Jr.) give them a chance to do just that. Spencer Clinton (6-1, 200, Jr.) adds to the blocking efforts as well at tight end. Tyson Moss (5-9, 175, Jr.) returns at one of the running back spots where
Luke Linville (6-1, 180, So.) and Brendon Rawls (5-9, 175, So.) could also see some action. Both Linville and Rawls earned playing time as freshmen. Linville is even capable of taking snaps at quarterback. Tyler Tinsley (5-9, 160, Sr.) is a deep threat at receiver.
DEFENSE
Davis held seven of its 11 opponents to 20 points or less in 2021. Five starters also return on defense where the Wolves will again bring physical play to the line of scrimmage. Kolton Rawls (5-10, 210, Jr.) will play one of the down positions in the 3-man front. Lane Rawls (5-9, 185, Sr.) returns at inside linebacker with Tye Barnett (5-9, 180, Jr.) coming back at one of the outside spots. Malaki White (5-7, 165, Sr.) is one of the more experienced players on the defense at safety. Seth Knapp (5-8, 160, Jr.) runs well at cornerback. Davis gets a little change of scenery in the district, moving from a more western pairing to an eastern pairing. Only Coalgate and Tishomingo remain on the district slate. The Wolves figure to be right in the middle of the hunt for the 2A-4 title.
