Sophomore Jaelee Korzan from Stratford High School is a shining example of a dedicated student-athlete. Excelling in both basketball as a power forward and golf as the one bag, she embodies determination and skill on and off the court. “What motivates me is always wanting to make myself better,” Jaelee said, whose drive to improve stems from her desire to play college sports and her supportive family’s presence at her games and tournaments.
With a strong faith in Christ and guidance from her parents, Jaelee finds inspiration from multiple sources. Her biologyteacher, Mr. Paul Wilson, has made a significant impact on her life, teaching her the importance of physical well-being for athletes. “He has had the biggest impact on my life because he cares for all of his students and makes sure as athletes, we all know the ways to keep our bodies healthy. I enjoy his class because I’m learning about the body in preparation for a career I could see myself doing in my future.”
To achieve success in her sports, Jaelee emphasizes the significance of maintaining her physical health and pushing through challenges with a positive attitude. Her career highlights include making various conference and tournament teams, with aspirations to reach the state level in golf. When it comes to opponents, Jaelee enjoys competing against schools with wolf mascots, relishing every victory.
In practice, Jaelee values the competitive spirit she shares with her teammate Trinity Bess in basketball, pushing each other to excel. “We try and push each other to be the best we can be and get in the gym together as much as possible, even though we are two different sizes and positions.” In golf, her father serves as her practice partner, adding an element of familial rivalry. Jaelee also actively engages in campus activities, holding the role of class vice president in student council, a member of various honors societies and FCA.
Looking towards the future, Jaelee aims to play college sports while majoring in sports medicine, aspiring to become a physical therapist. Representing Stratford in both sports and academics, Jaelee upholds values of integrity and respect, aiming to be a positive ambassador for her school and community.
