Sulphur High School senior Eathin Kennedy is a living example of perseverance and accomplishment in a variety of sports. Eathin’s adaptability and unshakable dedication set him apart on the football field, wrestling mat, baseball diamond and competitive cheer squad. Eathin’s unwavering dedication to improvement shines through in his words: “There is always room to get better, and there are others out there trying to achieve the same goal as me.”

Eathin’s behaviors and character are shaped by his faith in Jesus Christ. “I am extremely blessed to play this sport and blessed with the talent that the Lord gave me.” His attitude to life and athletics is shaped by his faith, which gives him a feeling of purpose and gratitude.

Reflecting on his academic journey, Eathin credits Mrs. Kimberly Roberts, his eighth grade reading teacher, for her transformative impact. “She was like a second mother to me,” Eathin said. Mrs. Roberts’ unwavering support and guidance improved his reading skills and provided a nurturing environment where he felt heard and understood. Eathinalso had an influential coach: “Coach Mike Matlack has driven me to be the best player I can be at all times. He has been there and supported me through all of the ups and downs, and never wavered in his confidence of me! He’s been a staple in my baseball progress and for that I am thankful!”

Among the highlights of his career, Eathin treasures the memory of pitching a no-hitter and complete game shutout with 18 strikeouts against Seminole during his junior year. “I was just so dialed in,” Eathin recalled.

For Eathin, victories against rival team Davis hold special significance. “It just feels a little bit better when we beat them,” he admitted. The intensity of the rivalry fuels his competitive spirit.

Outside of sports, Eathin actively participates in student council and FCA. “I try to always set the example,” Eathinshared. His commitment to service and community engagement reflects his desire to make a positive impact beyond the realm of sports.

Looking ahead, Eathin’s sights are set on collegiate baseball. “That is my dream,” he asserted. With unwavering determination, Eathin focuses solely on pursuing his passion for baseball at the next level.

As Eathin represents Sulphur High School, he embraces the responsibility of setting a positive example for younger generations. “I love representing Sulphur.”
