Now a Sulphur High School junior, Kinzi Adkison started showing livestock when she was only 9 years old.

Adkison knew she wanted to join Sulphur’s FFA program, and she got her chance in the eighth grade.

“My parents encouraged me to join. Both my mom and dad showed cattle growing up, after my grandfather passed away, we started showing only cattle in memory of him,” said Adkison.

Serving as an officer and the show team, Adkison said the livestock shows and the people are the two biggest reasons she loves FFA.

“What I enjoy most is going to livestock shows. I have met so many people and made friends that will last a lifetime,” said Adkison.

The Adkison family attends events in other states, including cattle shows at the local, state and national levels.

Adkison is also involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, varsity basketball, fast pitch softball, slow pitch softball and is a trainer for the football team, all while serving as junior class President.
“I am concurrently enrolled at [Murray State College]. After high school I plan on attending college and pursuing a degree in medicine. I also play basketball and softball and love being part of both teams. I love mentoring the underclassmen and encouraging them to always do their best,” said Adkison. “The thing I love most about my teammates is how we are more like family than just people who play together. We hang out on and off the court/field and are always having fun. We also know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and that is going to make us more successful throughout our seasons and we give all the glory to God.”
Adkison said she encourages other students to join FFA.

“I love it. I have met so many great people and it has taught me many things in life,” said Adkison.
