VANOSS WOLVES
BOYS
Coach: Jon Hurt
22-23 Record: 22-5
The absence of players lost to graduation will force head coach Jon Hurt to adjust his lineup and hope younger players can mature into roles of leadership on the team. “We have big shoes to fill after losing two All-State guards. I expect us to keep improving throughout the year and have a chance to make a run late. I like this group, tons of underclassmen that want to be good,” said Hurt. One senior making his return for his final year of prep basketball is Logan Hulbutta (6-1, Sr.). Hulbutta is a VYPE Top 100 nominee and someone coach Hurt expects to have a big year.
Hurt calls Hulbutta a “great facilitator.” The senior brings a high basketball IQ and can score in a variety of ways. Dyllan Brown (5-10, Fr.) is a young point guard coach Hurt is looking forward to seeing play at the varsity level. “Dyllan is a special talent. He is one of the best players in this area as a freshman. Definitely a big name to keep track of the next few years,” said Hurt. Layne Thrower (6-0, Sr.) lives around the rim and is a tremendous rebounder. His development will mean a lot for Vanoss this season. Other players to watch include Brayden Yarbrough (5-6, Sr.), Jarin Factor (5-9, Jr.), Brady Johnson (5-11, Jr.), Allen Esparza (5-8, So.), Karver Trentham (5-10, So.), Tucker Miller (5-8, So.), Caleb Treat (6-0, Fr.), Cooper Treat (6-0, Fr.), Owen Sheppard (5-10, Fr.), and Tye Newby (5-10, Fr.). Assisting coach Hurt are coaches Scott Bradley, and Randy Ellis.
