VANOSS WOLVES
GIRLS
Coach: Jon Hurt
22-23 Record: 24-4
Building on the success of a 24-win season, coach Jon Hurt is excited to have a solid nucleus of players back despite missing one starter to an injury early in the season. “We have a chance to be pretty good. We will be missing our starting point guard for a while. She broke her leg during softball. When she gets back, I would expect us to be a tough out,” said Hurt. Last season Avery Ellis (5-10, Sr.) averaged 15 points a game and is a VYPE Top 100 nominee. Ellis is a versatile player who can score from anywhere on the court. Coach Hurt said Ellis has been a key player in the last two state tournament runs Vanoss has made.
Livi Ellis (6-1, So.) will likely start at center where she averaged 6.0 points and 4.0 blocks as a freshman. One part of her game is shooting the 3-ball. Everyone knows she is a shot blocker but look for Ellis to get more involved in the offense. Caidence Cross (5-6, Jr.) starts at point guard where she averaged 10 points and 4.0 assists per game last year. Cross has started at the position for the last two seasons and is known for being a great defender. Other players to watch include Maggie Stone (5-6, Sr.), Eryn Khoury (5-8, Sr.), Addi Sheppard (5-6, Jr.), Zoey Cagle (5-7, So.), RJ King (5-7, Fr.), Veah Pierce (5-5, Fr.), Jaxie Newby (5-6, Fr.), and Savannah Delozier (5-8, Fr.). The coaching staff consists of Randy Ellis, Scott Bradley, and Troy Cox.
