Atoka’s Kyleigh Ritchie – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Stuteville Ford of Atoka

Leading by example both on and off the softball field is senior Kyleigh Ritchie of Atoka High School.

As she reflected on her journey, Kyleigh shared, “Other kids looking up to me motivates me to work hard.” This drive to inspire others fuels her determination to excel in athletics and academics alike.

Kyleigh has had many supporters throughout her life, but her brother stands out: “My brother really helps me work hard to achieve my goals.” Her sibling’s influence, a former MLB draft pick turned scholar-athlete, serves as a constant reminder of the importance of perseverance and dedication in pursuit of success.

Among her mentors, Kyleigh cites Dwayne Dale, a coach whose guidance transcends the confines of the playing field. “He coached me throughout my athletic career and has shown me the love of God through sports,” she explained. Coach Dale’s lessons extend beyond wins and losses, instilling in Kyleigh a deep appreciation for teamwork.

For Kyleigh and her teammates, success is the result of both camaraderie and adversity. “It has taken a lot of friendships and hardships throughout these years to make not just me, but my whole team successful,” she acknowledged.

As she approaches the pinnacle of her high school career, Kyleigh finds fulfillment in witnessing her teammates’ growth and accomplishments. “The highlight moment of my career would be me as a senior seeing my fellow teammates learn the game and succeed,” she reflected with pride.

In the competitive arena, Coalgate emerges as a notable rival for Kyleigh and her team. “Coalgate is definitely the opponent I enjoy beating the most because of the rivalry against them,” she admitted, reveling in the thrill of victory against a formidable adversary.

Within her team, Kyleigh finds synergy and inspiration in her partnership with Avery Tipton. “I enjoy working with Avery Tipton the most in practice,” she shared. Their dynamic reflects the essence of mentorship and collaboration, as Kyleigh nurtures the potential she sees in her younger teammate.

As she prepares for the next chapter of her journey, Kyleigh envisions a future that blends academic pursuits with athletic aspirations. “I plan to further my academic and athletic career in college playing softball somewhere close,” she said, poised to make her mark on the collegiate stage.
