Bennington’s Marc Ramirez – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Excel Therapy

At Bennington High School, Marc Ramirez, a rising basketball talent, opens up about his journey and aspirations. He credits two influential coaches, stating, “For my favorite coach, I have 2. My first is Matt Ward. Without him, I wouldn’t be involved in basketball. He taught me when I was little and made me fall in love with the game. My second is Darren Harber. He’s made me the player I am today, and I’m sure he’ll make me so much better these next 2 years.”

Highlighting the importance of his teammates, Marc emphasizes their role in his growth. “My teammates are a very big support. They push me in practice every day. Without them, I couldn’t get any better.”

In the academic realm, Rebecca Rubio stands out as his favorite teacher, guiding him towards his goal of attending college for HVAC.  “Rebecca Rubio is my favorite teacher,” he said. “She’s helping me get my ACT score up to go to college for HVAC.”

Discussing his off-season regimen, Marc details his commitment to improvement. “This off-season, I was in the gym a lot and in the workout room, always trying to get my teammates in the gym with me.”

Basketball, for Marc, extends beyond the court, imparting valuable life lessons: “You only get out what you put in. The harder you work, the more successful you’re going to be in whatever you’re doing.”

Favorite memories for Marc revolve around triumphant victories. “My favorite memories are when we beat teams who beat us when we were freshmen.”

Looking ahead, Marc has ambitious goals for the upcoming season: “As a team, I want to go undefeated in regular-season games and do whatever it takes to win state this year. Individually, I want to receive an offer before this season is over with.” Expressing anticipation for specific matchups, Marc points to Rock Creek and Caddo as games he’s eagerly looking forward to.

Post-high school, Marc envisions a future in HVAC. “I’m wanting to go to OSUIT for HVAC and, when I can, start my own heating and air business.”

With his eyes set on both academic and athletic achievements, Marc Ramirez embodies the dedication and determination that define a promising student-athlete.
