Coalgate’s Aubrey Manion – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by SafeGuard Insurance Solutions

At Coalgate High School, Aubrey Manion stands tall on the basketball court, fueled by a passion for the game and the unwavering support of her coach, teammates and loved ones.

As she embarks on her final high school basketball season, Aubrey reflects on the impactful journey that has shaped her both as a player and an individual: “My favorite coach throughout my career is my current coach, Coach Haley. She’s always held me to high expectations and has always had confidence in me.”

Teammates often become an extended family, providing a network of support both on and off the court.  “I have had lots of support throughout the years,” she said. “My main supporters have been my friends/teammates Rylie Blue and Macy Delozier and my mom who had always been there for the bad and good days.”

In the realm of academics, Ms. Penny emerges as a favorite teacher, offering not only academic guidance but also a compassionate ear. “She’s always there if you need to talk or just to listen, and she is always supporting our team,” Aubrey said.

Preparation is the key to success, and Aubrey approached the off-season with dedication and enthusiasm: “During the offseason, I put time in at the gym, and over the summer, I enjoyed getting to go to my last-ever team camps.”

Basketball, for Aubrey, is more than a game; it’s a teacher of life lessons. “Basketball has taught me that hard work pays off and how to work together with people,” she said.

Amidst the rigors of competition, Aubrey fondly recalls the simple joys of camaraderie. “My favorite memory is when me and my friends would go to my house on game days and just hang out and talk.”

As the new season unfolds, Aubrey sets her sights on ambitious goals: “I hope to have a great season and make it to the State Playoffs.”

Beyond high school, Aubrey envisions a future in college, aspiring to become a surgical esthetician.
