Meet La’marcus Davis, a senior football talent from Hugo High School, whose versatility and determination have made him an indispensable asset to his team. As Davis enters his final year of high school, his skills and passion for the game are poised to leave an enduring mark.
Throughout his high school journey, Davis has been guided by influential coaches, namely Coach Shanklin and Coach Gross. “Coach Shanklin has turned me into a well-respected young man,” Davis reflects. These coaches haven’t just shaped him as an athlete but as a person, pushing him to be better both on and off the field.
Admiration runs deep for Davis, particularly for his cousin Kobe Savage, who now plays at Kansas State Wildcats. Kobe’s journey from high school to D1 college has inspired Davis to persevere and reach for his own dreams. Among his educators, Mrs. Moffitt holds a special place. “She’s always there for me no matter what,” Davis emphasizes.
In his off-season, Davis dedicated his time to basketball, focusing on conditioning. This cross-training approach is a testament to his commitment to maintaining peak physical fitness and honing his skills across disciplines.
Football has imparted invaluable life lessons to Davis. “This sport taught me how to grow into a man and has made me a better person,” he said.
Amidst his cherished memories, one stands out – a remarkable performance with 30 tackles in a playoff game during his junior year. This standout moment not only showcased his prowess but his dedication to the sport and his team’s success.
Looking ahead, Davis’s goals are both individual and collective. He aspires to achieve an impressive 3,000 rushing yards and guide his team to the state championship, exemplifying his commitment to excellence.
Beyond high school, Davis’s ambitions are high. “My plans after high school are to hopefully go play D1 ball in any sport I play,” he shares, underscoring his determination to continue his athletic journey at the collegiate level.
