MADILL WILDCATS
Coach: CHAD SPEER
4-6
OFFENSE
The Wildcats are looking to build off of last season, but in order to do that, they will need guys to step up and fill open positions. Third-year head coach Chad Speer was optimistic as he headed into spring practice. “We have lots of unknowns as we start spring football,” he said. “We have a lot of production to replace.” Leading the offense at quarterback will be Eli Vinson (Jr.). Eli is a great kid,” said coach Speer. “One of the hardest workers on our football team. He really wants to be good. He started last year at safety and exceeded expectations. The plan is for him to play quarterback in the fall. He’s got high expectations for himself. We are excited to see him continue to grow and get better.” Working to keep the defense away from Vinson will be the guys on the offensive line, which will be anchored by James Daniel (Sr.). The running back duo of Amauri Winston (So.) and Reagan Combs (Sr.) will be leaned on to find the openings and get into the open field. Caden McHatton (Sr.) and Levi Fouse (Jr.) will be the target that Vinson will look for and get the ball to.
DEFENSE
The Wildcat defense will be called on to shut down opposing offenses and help get their offense back on the field. Cornerback McCray Tripp (Jr.), along with safeties Fouse, and Vinson, will patrol the secondary and keep the ball in front of them and out of the end zone. Yahir Padron (Sr.) will maintain things as an outside linebacker. On the front line, Gilberto Grimaldo (Jr.) and Zeke Rodriguez (Sr.) will try to cause problems for the opposing offense. Assistant coaches this season will be Ron Robertson, Ron Norman, Jose Cortes, Josh Sisco, Zach Patterson, Paden Hayes, Scott Shaw, and Austin Pettigrew.
