There are a lot of ingredients that go into being a successful athlete. Hard work and dedication are two important parts, but Emery Arnold says that there is something else that has played a big role in her being where she is today.
“I believe that my success in sports comes majorly from how I prepare during the offseason,” she stated. “AAU ball and weight training. Summer ball has helped improve my basketball IQ and weight training has given me the extra strength that it takes to post up hard and make buckets.”
Emery is a senior basketball player at Canadian High School. She also throws the discus and shotput for the track and field team. Outside of sports, she is also a member of the Gifted & Talented program. She has also been a member of the National Honor Society, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, and the Student Government.
Throughout her career, Arnold has had a number of people that have influenced her life and helped shape her into the person that she is.
“My parents are my biggest influences,” she said. “They have always encouraged and supported me throughout all of my endeavors. My mom is my biggest fan and my dad is my coach; it doesn’t get much better than that. A teacher that has played a big role in my life is my senior English Teacher Debbie Brown. She has left the biggest impact on me. She has shown genuine interest in my future and I love her passion for educating and leaving positive impacts on her students.”
