VYPE: What sports do you play?

Cody Sanders: Football, powerlifting, and showing livestock.

VYPE: What motivates you?

CS: My motivation is to give my parents something to be proud of.

VYPE: Which teammate do you enjoy working against the most with in practice?

CS: Landon Bond is the teammate I like working with in practice. He always pushes me to be the best that I can possibly be and always has my back.

VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?

CS: The highlight of my career is when I was on the starting line as a freshman. Another highlight of my career is as a freshman, I made it into the thousand-pound club in weightlifting.

VYPE: Is there an opponent that you enjoy beating the most?

CS: Wilburton. It doesn’t matter which sport we are playing, Wilburton will always be my favorite team to beat. It has been a tradition for many years, and I enjoy doing my part in carrying on the tradition of winning “The Battle of Gowen Mountain.”

VYPE: Who are some of your biggest influences or role models?

CS: My father is my biggest influence because he is the person I have looked up to since I was little. He has always been by my side no matter what, whether it has been in football, shows or rodeos.

Cody Sanders goes in for a tackle against Wilburton.

VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life?

CS: Coach Jeff Beare, he has always been there for me. When I first made the move to Hartshorne, he was the one that took me in under his wing and really pushed me to be the best that I can be, and he hasn’t given up on me yet.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

CS: My plans are to get my certification from Kiamichi Technology Center, where I am currently in their auto mechanics program. Once I do finish, I plan to put the knowledge and skills that I have learned to good use and go straight to work.

VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent your school and community when you play?

CS: It is a great feeling to be able to represent something greater than myself. Wearing a Hartshorne jersey and having the whole community backing me and my team is something that I will always be proud of and remember many years down the road.
