Coming off a 6-11 season, Hartshorne head coach Jim Curliss says this year’s team is eager to improve on last season. “The Hartshorne Mines men’s basketball team has grown tremendously mentally and physically from last year,” says Curliss. “We will start four senior and one junior this year. We are looking forward to a successful season and strong push into the playoffs.” Caden James (5-7, Sr.) is the leader on the floor for Hartshorne. “This guy makes our team go,” says Curliss. “He a playmaker with great court vision. His knowledge of the game is top notch. He also shoots the three very well.” Hayden Curliss (6-1, Sr.) will be another key player for Hartshorne. “Hayden is very strong and can play bigger than he is,” says Curliss. He’s very difficult to keep off the boards and his outside game has also improved.” Bryson Cervantes (6-0, Sr.), Kaleb Keith (6-0, Sr.) and Payton 6-5, Jr.) round out the starting five, and main contributors, for Hartshorne.

GIRLS

Coach: Shane Hackler

20-21 Record: 18-3

After making it to the state tournament once again last season, Shane Hackler and the Lady Miners are looking to make it five straight trips. “The Lady Miners have plenty of experience when it comes to being in the spotlight after appearing in the state playoffs the past four years,” says Hackler. “Our speed, depth, and long-range shooting is going to make us a team to watch this season.” Courtnee Sensibaugh (5-11, Sr.) will lead Hartshorne on the court. “Courtnee’s height, speed, and control gives her the ability to dominate in any position on the court,” says Hackler. Attisyn Cypert (5-7, Sr.) and Trinity Wood (5-8, Sr.) are two other seniors with a lot of experience that Hackler will lean on this year. Jayda Moore (5-6, Fr.) is an underclassman Hackler and Hartshorne will count one. “Jayda’s long-range shooting and ball handling skills will make her fun to watch,” says Hackler. Alanna Williams (5-9, So.), Sophia Camp (5-9, So.), and Lexis Vicars (5-9, Fr.) will also be asked to contribute for Hartshorne this season.
