Ali Johnson
Hartshorne High School
Ali Johnson of Hartshorne High School first joined FFA when she was in the eighth grade. Now a junior, Johnson said it was an eighth grade teacher, Mrs. Lockhart, who encouraged her to join.
Joining FFA has led Johnson to many great experiences as a member of the Hartshorne chapter.
“The thing I most enjoy about being in FFA is making new friends and showing my animals,” said Johnson. “The activities I am involved in are my school’s pie auction, our Angel tree gift giving, our 4-wheeler give away and of course, showing livestock. My favorite memory in FFA would be winning Grand Champion market lamb, champion senior showman at my free fair.”
Johnson currently shows sheep and is planning to show pigs in the future. As a student at HHS, Johnson is a manager for the football team and powerlifting team. She said anyone interested in FFA should give it a try.\
“The advice I would give a student wanting to join FFA is just to do it, when I joined FFA I had bad social anxiety, and being in FFA has helped me come out of my shell, so the advice I would give a student is that to join because it will help you out and make new friends,” said Johnson.
The junior said her sister has been a big influence in her life.
“The person who has been a big influence in my life is my big sister Emmy, my sister has pushed me to be a better person in life and I look up to her a lot. We are usually always together, even though she is in college she still calls me and lets me know about everything, but she is the person I look up to the most,” said Johnson. Once she is done with high school, Johnson said she plans on attending college and possibly go into teaching.
