By Payton Moody

Ella Burke, a dedicated senior cheerleader at Hartshorne High School, radiates positivity and enthusiasm in her sport. Her journey in cheerleading has been marked by unwavering support, memorable moments, and a profound influence from her coaches and teachers.

When asked about her favorite coach, Burke mentions Tamara Roberts. She doesn’t just see Coach Roberts as her coach; she views her as a mentor who imparts valuable life lessons. “She has been very influential in my life,” Burke shares. “I look up to her because she teaches me life lessons and has always taught me to work hard and believe in myself.”

Cheerleading isn’t just about performing routines; it’s about fostering strong bonds with teammates. Burke treasures her friendship with Katie Richmond, a close friend and fellow cheerleader who has been a pillar of support throughout her journey.

Burke’s love for learning extends beyond cheerleading. She fondly remembers her pre-kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Deana Young, who made learning fun. “My favorite teacher was Deana Young, she was my Pre-K teacher,” Burke recalls. Sometimes, the simplest moments in education leave a lasting impact.

Burke’s dedication to her sport is evident in her offseason preparations. She diligently attends tumbling classes and maintains a rigorous workout routine, ensuring that she’s at her best when the season arrives.

Cheerleading has taught Burke valuable life lessons. She’s learned that with hard work, determination, and perseverance, even the most challenging tasks can be accomplished.

As Burke embarks on her senior year, her goals are simple but profound. She aims to have fun, cherishing her final moments with teammates and classmates. Burke’s hope is that they continue cheering for their boys into the Thanksgiving week.

Burke’s future is brimming with possibilities. She’s considering attending college, where she may continue her cheerleading journey. Ultimately, she aspires to become a nurse or teacher, motivated by her desire to make a positive impact on others.

Ella Burke’s dedication, positive attitude, and support network of coaches, teammates, and teachers have not only shaped her cheerleading journey but have also prepared her for a future filled with success.
