Kiowa’s Emma Roberts – Presented by BancFirst

By Payton Moody Hailing from Kiowa High School, Emma Roberts is a standout player who has earned her place as the McAlester Softball Poll winner. When asked about her favorite coach, Roberts mentioned Coach Matt Henry. “He always saw
potential in me and pushed me to be my best every day,” she said.” He’s spent countless hours working with me on my hitting and fielding, all around making me a better player.

He also taught me life lessons that I will use throughout my entire life.” In the world f ports, the strength of a team lies in its unity. “All of my teammates support me, and I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to be on a team with,” Roberts said.

Beyond the softball field, Roberts points to Mrs. Dewbre as her favorite teacher. “She always helped me with everything and was always there when I needed her,” Roberts said. “She also taught me to just be myself and stay true to who I am as a person.”

Roberts’ commitment to excellence shines through her offseason preparation. She dedicated herself to summer workouts and focused on all-around improvement, spending considerable time in the weight room to better equip herself for the upcoming season. The sport of softball has instilled valuable life lessons in Roberts.
“There will always be obstacles; you just have to stay focused and not let one thing keep you from succeeding in many other ways.” Reflecting on her favorite softball
memory, Roberts cherishes the trips to the state tournament. “There’s no other feeling like getting to experience that with our teammates and coaches after working so hard all year to get there,” she reminisced.

Roberts’ goals for the upcoming season are clear: “The biggest goal I think there is to accomplish this season is to win state. All of my teammates and I work so hard with that being our end goal in mind, so winning state with my team and coaches would be one of the best feelings ever.” Beyond high school, Roberts has her sights set on college. With her talent, work ethic and determination, she undoubtedly has a bright future ahead.
