Hi, what are you looking for?

McAlester

9 Qs with McAlester soccer player Lyliana Perez – Presented by RibCrib

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Lyliana: My mother inspires me. She has always done so much for my family even when she had no one there for her. She has always shown me to be confident in who I am and to always do my very best.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Lyliana: Addy Nooner has always been a teammate that I have looked up to. She is strong and she knows the game very well which makes her a great player. She was such a good leader which made me pick up a lot of points from her so I could be a great leader as well. She’s taught me how to be confident in my play so I could go out there and show what I’m capable of on that field.

VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?

Lyliana: I started playing soccer when I was four years old back in the Boys and Girls Club days and soon found my way to playing for Mcalester United. I’m not quite sure what got me into soccer but I’m so glad that I did.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?

Lyliana: Last year when we went to the Wagoner Tournament, we made it all the way to the championship game and ended up winning that game in penalty kicks. It was such a heartwarming experience to witness with all of my amazing teammates.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Lyliana: “Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some, have greatness thrust upon them“  – Uncle Gus

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Lyliana: My favorite teacher is Mrs. Molly Brenner from first grade. She has always been my favorite teacher from day one because she has inspired me to be such a loving and caring person and always taught me to be confident in who I am. She thought me how to be a determined student and always strive to be the best I can be.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Lyliana: I am passionate about my sport because I have played since I was 4 years old and have loved it ever since. It gave me a whole different outlook as an athlete that has made me do better as a person today.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Lyliana: I’ve always wanted to go to Fiji because of the beautiful waters. I would probably take some of my close friends and my family of course.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.Lyliana: I want to thank my beloved coach Ester Stantos. She is such a beautiful woman inside and out and she is the reason why I am the player I am today. She has taught me how to be a leader, has good sportsmanship, and determination, and always works hard. I appreciate everything that she has done for me since the moment I joined her team to even now when I’m off her team. She is an angel sent from heaven and I couldn’t ask for anyone else to be who she was as a person and as a coach toward me.  Thank you, coach.
