McAlester freshman Jayde Lee is one of the school’s most promising academics with an already impressive list of accomplishments in local scholastic competitions and academic bowl games.
“I enjoy learning new information and the people,” Lee said.
On McAlester’s academic team last season, Lee specialized in questions related to computer concepts. This season was her first on the Academic team.
“You know a lot of the people just from being involved in one activity,” Lee said. “It’s important to me because I feel the academic team is overlooked.”
Lee recently placed first in both computer concepts and integrated software at a Southeastern Oklahoma State University curriculum contest.
Lee appreciated the friendships she made through academic bowl this year as well as during curriculum contests, including that of classmate Ellie Ellis.
“[Ellis] went to the curriculum contest with me and was just a very good friend the whole time,” Lee said.
Lee’s future plans include a career in STEM, “specifically architecture.”
