McAlester soccer had its best record in five years last spring.
“That is something we are looking to build upon this season and clinch the playoffs for the first time in program history,” McAlester coach Ra’Shaud Buie said. “It is still a daily new program as this is only the 11th season. We are a young team with only seniors on the roster, so our youth will be looking to carry us to a successful year.”
Brandon McDaniel, a team captain and second-year starter for the Buffaloes, is the team’s defensive glue.
“[McDaniel] has grown a lot this year. He has also developed significantly in his craft, while helping his teammates progress along the way,” Buie said.
Sophomore William Alejandro, starting his second season at center back, has “gained the trust from his teammates and improved the confidence within himself.”
Midfielder Christian Fabian will be expected to play 80 minutes.
“[Fabian] will give it no matter how tired he is,” Buie said. “I get 100% effort out of him day in and day out.
Freshman Juan Medina will play fullback. Buie said he will be one of the team’s key newcomers this spring.
