As the 2024 golf season beckons, the McAlester Buffaloes Boys Golf Team is gearing up for a promising campaign. Led by head coach Justin Bond, the Buffs are set to capitalize on the experience gained from the previous season, eyeing a strong finish and perhaps a shot at the state tournament.

“The 2024 McAlester Buffaloes team is returning all top five bags this year,” Bond said, highlighting the team’s continuity and depth. “As a team, we missed the state tournament by three strokes. We are looking for a strong finish this year.”

Seth Gilliam, a sophomore with a passion for the game, is set to lead the charge for the Buffaloes. After an impressive showing last season, where he finished 22nd at the 5A State Tournament, Gilliam is determined to elevate his performance further. His dedication to golf and aspirations for the future make him a player to watch.

Complementing Gilliam are experienced players including Zane Owens, Shawn Perkins, Kaiden Duke and Hayden Graham. With a solid foundation and a hunger for success, these upperclassmen add depth and stability to the team’s lineup, aiming to make their mark on the course.

McAlester also boasts promising up-and-coming golfers poised to make an impact this season. Freshman Jackson Miller, along with juniors Nate Eaton and Caleb McPhetridge, bring energy and potential to the team, adding depth and competition within the roster.

The Buffaloes’ schedule is packed with challenging matchups and tournaments, providing ample opportunities for growth and competition. From Muskogee to Pryor, the team will traverse various courses, honing their skills and striving for excellence.

Gilliam, with his unwavering dedication and talent, stands out as a potential prospect for collegiate golf programs. His commitment to the game, coupled with high aspirations, makes him a standout player deserving of recognition and attention from recruiters.

Driven by a strong sense of purpose and resolve, the McAlester Buffaloes Boys Golf Team is ready to set out on a path toward success. They want to represent McAlester with pride and expertise, making a lasting impression on the golfing world with a combination of experience and up-and-coming talent.
