As the McAlester High School Baseball Team gears up for the 2024 season, optimism runs high in the dugout. Under the seasoned leadership of Head Coach Justin Mullins, the team is set to build on its foundation, bringing together a blend of experience, talent and determination to make a mark on the baseball diamond.
Returning seven starters from last year’s roster, McAlester emphasizes a commitment to pitching and defense. “The strength of our team will be pitching and defense,” Mullins said. “If we are going to improve from our record last year and be where we want to be at the end of the season, we must improve on the offensive side.” The team is ready to face the challenges of the upcoming season.
Caden Lesnau emerges as a standout player for the Buffs, boasting a remarkable four-year stint as a starter. His consistent performance and leadership on the field make him a pivotal player for the McAlester squad.
Identified as a standout sophomore, Wilson Allford has showcased remarkable growth since his freshman year. Coach Mullins praises his work ethic, noting the significant strides he’s made as a player.
Described as a “lunch-pail kid,” Ganon Mullins is the guy who does the little things right on the team. His relentless work ethic and contributions behind the scenes make him an invaluable asset, often working without seeking recognition.
Gunner Hodgell embodies the spirit of a true team player. Both on and off the field, Hodgell is recognized for his selflessness and willingness to contribute to the team’s success in any capacity.
