Head Coach: Ra’Shaud Buie

2023 Record: 11-5

The McAlester High School Boys Soccer Team is poised for an exciting season under the guidance of Head Coach Ra’Shaud Buie. Following the team’s impressive 2023 record of 11-5 and their first playoff appearance in the program’s 11-year history, expectations are high, and the players are ready to make strides on the pitch.

Buie expresses confidence in the squad, stating, “This season, we will look to continue this success, returning the majority of our starters. We spent all offseason working on our culture, working on our chemistry, and working in our community. We are ready to get this season started!”

Junior Ronaldo Martinez is a standout performer, having started both of his high school years. Leading the team in assists and goals, Martinez’s talent, high soccer IQ and well-rounded skills as an attacking midfielder make him a key player for the team’s success.

Sophomore Jaime Carranza, despite playing with a torn meniscus during his freshman season, contributed significantly with 5 goals and 2 assists. Known for his speed and talent as a winger, Carranza is expected to play a vital role in the team’s accomplishments this season.

Senior Salvador Rodriguez, transitioning from midfielder to fullback, is a dedicated and versatile player. Praised for his speed and strength, Rodriguez’s commitment to the team without complaints exemplifies his role as a valuable asset to the backline.

Senior Brandon McDaniel embodies exceptional character both on and off the field. A goalkeeper and team leader, McDaniel’s willingness to step down from his varsity role to support underclassmen showcases his selflessness and dedication to the team’s success.

Krista Sutmiller, a dedicated team mom for six years, has been an instrumental force behind the McAlester Boys Soccer program. From designing to fundraising, hosting events, and ensuring the team’s needs are met, Sutmiller’s contributions have left an indelible mark on the team.

As the McAlester High School Boys Soccer Team embarks on the 2024 season, the combination of experienced players, emerging talents, and a strong community support system sets the stage for an exhilarating journey on the soccer field.
