VYPE: Did you have any teammates that you admire or that supported you?
Alyson Dusenberry: June Thomas has always been my years of being on McAlester Pom. June has always been right by my side through anything and everything.
VYPE: What do you hope to accomplish this season in pom?
AD: I hope to accomplish winning OSDTDA state with my team and making it to the finals at UDA Nationals.
VYPE: What matchup are you most looking forward to this season?
AD: I’m looking forward to returning to OSSAA Game Day and placing higher than 4th.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
AD: My plans after high school are to go to cosmetology school in Oklahoma City, and then transfer to Oklahoma State University for nursing.
VYPE: Who was your favorite teacher and how were they influential in your life?
AD: Mrs. Ammy Perry was my favorite teacher. She was my KTC instructor in the CNA program during my junior year of high school. She inspired me to pursue a career in nursing.
VYPE: What preparation have you taken this offseason to better equip yourself for the upcoming pom season?
AD: During off season, I worked out at 6 a.m. with a personal trainer, went to morning practice at 7 a.m. every day and learned all routines during the summer to prepare for competition season
VYPE: What has pom taught you that you use in your daily life?
AD: My sport has taught me that win or lose, your team will always be there for you. And that I can get ready in under 10 minutes.
VYPE: What has been your favorite memory in pom?
AD: My favorite memory in my sport was winning OSDTDA state my sophomore year with my team.
VYPE: Who has been your favorite coach throughout your career and how did they impact you as a player?
AD: Kacyn Haney is my favorite coach; she’s always pushed me to be the best that I can be and never settles for less. She inspires me every day and I love her so much.
